Ghosting is when someone abruptly stops responding and disappears from communication without explanation.
In online dating, ghosting can happen after a few messages, after a promising conversation or even after meeting in person.
Why it happens
People may ghost because they feel uncomfortable, avoid direct communication, lose interest or do not know how to end a conversation respectfully.
How to respond
Avoid chasing repeated messages. Protect your own time, keep communication on the platform early and move toward people who communicate clearly.
Better dating practice
If you are not interested, a short and respectful message is usually better than disappearing.
